Interfaith Opportunities Network (ION) is a lay interfaith network in Hampshire County that strengthens communication among participating religious congregations and faith groups for education and collaboration. ION seeks to encourage mutual respect and understanding within our group as well as those in our community.  They continue to be activists for peace, justice, and the earth.

Founded in 2005, ION now consists of 21 different faith communities and campus ministry in Hampshire County.

ION meets monthly and each month their meetings are hosted by one of our representative faith groups. Their interfaith groups pay yearly dues on a sliding scale basis. Guest speakers are welcome at their monthly meetings.  These speakers inspire us to learn and support their on-going work to improve the lives of others.

ION has been active in the following areas this past year:

  • Toward Right Relationships with Native Peoples Workshop: Friends Peace Teams on January 30th, 2022.

  • 11th Hour climate monthly vigil (Vigils continue at the 11th hour of the 11th day each month.) ION welcomes individual faith groups to host the vigil.

  • Stolen Beam course (started Jan. 2023) is supported and co-instructed with JCA and ION representatives.

  • The weekly Tuesday afternoon racial justice/ Black Lives Matter vigil continues, and many ION representatives are active in this event.

  • Covid Remembrance— This event occured in March of 2023 which marked three years of the pandemic.
